ALTERNATIVE & COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE FOR PATIENTS WITH CANCER
When faced with a cancer diagnosis, patients need a skilled team that will integrate the very best that the fields of conventional oncology and alternative therapies have to offer.
OUR STRENGTH
Our strength lies in our evaluation of the terrain in which abnormal cells were allowed to persist and replicate and individualizing therapies to address this underlying environment.
UNDERSTANDING CANCER
Cancer thrives in an environment of high insulin, glucose and inflammation, as well as low immune activity and anti-oxidant status. These factors are all affected by diet and lifestyle and can be modified with botanical and nutritional medicines.
Some cancers are hormone dependent and thrive when the internal hormonal environment is not in balance. For example, the way in which the body metabolizes estrogen can either be a risk factor for the development of breast cancer or offer protection against it. We can alter how our bodies metabolize estrogen through the foods that we eat and the use of specific botanical medicines.

INTEGRATED CANCER CARE
Drs. Ready and Standish have made addressing the challenge of cancer a priority in their clinical and research work. By communicating with each patient's oncologist, we provide truly integrated care.
GOALS OF CANCER TREATMENT
The goals of our therapies are: optimization of conventional therapies, reduction of side effects, prevention of recurrence, and ultimately the restoration of health.

Did You Know?
A natural compound found in grapes, resveratrol, possesses anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities.
This compound has been shown to affect several key cellular events associated with the development of cancer. There is also evidence that resveratrol can make drug-resistant cancer cells more susceptible to chemotherapy.

Constituents in green tea have shown significant inhibition in cell growth and the ability to induce normal cell death in prostate cancer cells.
Japanese and Chinese populations, which are regular green tea drinkers, have one of the lowest rates of prostate cancer in the world. Asian men migrating to the United States have an increased incidence of prostate cancer, and subsequent generations of American-born Asian men have risks for prostate cancer that are nearly equal to those of white Americans.

Did You Know?
Specific complex sugars (polysaccharides) derived from the fungus Coriolus versicolor have been used in cancer therapy in Asia for over 30 years.
These polysaccharides have documented anticancer activity in the test tube, in animals and in human clinical trials. Several randomized clinical trials have demonstrated the potential of this medicinal mushroom as a complimentary cancer therapy, with positive results seen in the treatment of esophageal, gastric, colorectal, lung and breast cancers.
