PRACTICE
Dr. Ann Ready is a primary care physician with a special focus on treating people with cancer, gastrointestinal and cardiovascular disease and hepatitis C. The integration of alternative medicine into the prevention and treatment of these and other chronic illnesses forms the bedrock of her practice.

APPROACH
Utilizing a pro-active, comprehensive approach in the evaluation of risk factors for chronic and serious illnesses, Dr. Ready emphasizes the importance of health promotion and disease prevention. Dr. Ready individualizes treatment based on the needs of each patient and uses therapeutic nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, conventional medications and individualized counseling in the care of her patients.

EDUCATION
Dr. Ready is a graduate of Bastyr University (2001) where she received the President's Award for three consecutive years. She completed her naturopathic medical residency at the University Health Clinic with Drs. Standish and Donovan. Her interest in cancer prevention and treatment led her to pursue further training as a research scientist. Dr. Ready was awarded a three-year N.I.H.-funded post-doctoral research fellowship through Bastyr University in 2004. During her fellowship, she pursued a Master in Public Health degree (M.P.H.) in Epidemiology from the University of Washington, which she completed in 2007.
RESEARCH
Dr. Ready is focusing her research on breast cancer. As an N.I.H.-funded post-doctoral research fellow and in collaboration with scientists at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) in Seattle, Dr. Ready recently evaluated the effects of anti-inflammatory medications on breast cancer risk (Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, Aug 3, 2007).
Dr. Ready is also collaborating on another soon to be published study at the FHCRC that suggests that decreased frequency of bowel movements may contribute to breast cancer risk. Other research interests include inflammation and cardiovascular disease and alternative therapies for hepatitis C and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Ready completed her Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of Washington in 2007.
